QOW #10-April 17

Na,na,na,na...na,na,na,na...hey, hey, hey...goodbye!!!

It's almost over people....April vaca is one day away ...then New York...then breakfast at Anderson's and the AP test... and then...and then..(no more "and then"!)...the rest of your life. Oooohhhh.....how dramatic and exciting!

Well, it is that time of the year when we go and give advice about good ole' Mischley and AP to the underclassmen....the rumors about our secret little AP gang run wild...so let's set them straight...

Question: What advice do you think the youngsters really need to know about out little class?

Be honest...keep it real.

advice.
DO NOT PROCRASTINATE! everyone thinks that ''oh i can procrastinate and i'll just do it the day before'' and i thought it too. haha ya do that if you want to be up till 3 in the morn writing a 10 page paper or looking up songs. you may think you are superman.. but you arent/aint?/arent.

I would have to agree with Beth, the main piece of advice would be do not wait until last minute, especially with the Grendel soundtrack.. and just do all the work and you'll be fine.

well, I too agree with the dont proctastinate advice. But I'd also have to say that its important to not be afraid to voice your opinion during discussions. While whatever you say may seem rediculous (tour, or carol snow?) its always healty to satisfy your curiosity and you'll definately learn a thing or too that you wouldn't if you just kept quiet. This is espically important when analyzing poetry, because almost anything could be right.

I agree with Beth, Brittany, and Meg as well. Do NOT procrastinate on anything!!! The Grendel project is very deceiving and so are the lit book stories... You'll feel like an idiot when you're up until 2 in the morning reading 15 lit book stories the night before the test because you did not feel like reading them earlier.

well i agree with everything abooce especially voicing your opinion becasue that is important even if you are wrong half the time (as is with me). I think the most important piece of wisdom that i could pass on would be to make sure you know when everything is due (on the calender) so that you have time to do a good job on it. This will also help becuase you will have everything to pass in on time. Gook Luck

I would advise the AP12 n00bs not to get discouraged and to keep trying no matter how frustrated you become. In the beginning it may feel like you are doing everything wrong, but after you rewrite papers, do a few Poetry
180s, and get through a couple of multiple choice packets, you will get better. You'll learn to think differently so don't worry if you don't feel like you get it in the beginning. Yeah, poetry's tough, but stick with it and it'll become second nature.

one thing that will make you happy is pass in the research paper early...not only will you get 5 extra points, but you will also find joy when everyone else in the class is staying up until 3 in the morning trying to finish when you were done weeks ago.

Liz, are you saying i'm superman?... My advice is to procrastinate. If you can procrastinate in this class then itll teach you not to procrastinate in college. SO, in a way, it really prepares you for higher education, cuz if you can successfully procrastinate in this class then your all set. Also, sleep in class a lot. its always a good laugh and itll help you recover from those night with too much homework.

alrighty youngins, do yourselves a favor and don't do the summer assignment the final week before it's due. you'll be scrambling to do those packets. PACE YOURSELF!

again, do the grendel soundtrack early, because it may be the one time that you CAN'T find your cd's, your computer BREAKS the night before, and you realize that you DON'T have microsoft publisher for the cover (true story).

My advice...
learn not to procrastinate on the easy assignments so you will learn to work early for the more involved assignments...
when in doubt ask for help.
your writing can only get better.
actually read your books.
and finally don't whine all the work is for your own good in preparation for college.

i would have to say that the most important thing to know about AP is that you have to be sure of what you are doing. whenever it's time to do a writing prompt or write a poetry analysis, it always comes out better if you commit to an idea even if you aren't positive that it's correct. you only have a limited amount of time, so the sooner you decide what to write, the more time you have to develop what you are saying

I think that the new apers need to know that procrastinating is not an option. If you wait until last minute to get something done then you're pretty much in trouble. (Grendel soundtrack =)

Well i would have to say that you should place your trust in Mischley when she makes you do a history/literature lesson all year long in your lit books, because when you get a poem you know backwards and forwards on the ap test, you will thank her. i.e. i hated studying the history and reading the stories, but then we all kicked bum on our poetry essay about Keats

well i would say to any underclassmen that AP really isnt as hard as people think it is. ya, we do get more work, but its totally worth it because we actually do things that have meaning in life, not just like busy work, which really makes me angry.

also, because we are sooooo mature, we can joke around with misch and still do our work (without getting yelled at to do so) we have a lot more freedom than other classes
