I'ma be, I'ma be......post #5...a..be

Inspiration hits me at odd moments. I felt inspired by a thought that popped into my noggin, so I thought I'd share it with you. For a brief moment (super brief..seriously...like a flash) I thought to myself "Self, if you weren't a teacher, whatever would you be?" Welllllll, there's so much stuff to do out there, so after wondering for uno momento, I thought....writer and game reviewer for a magazine or company, such as XBOX, Game Informer, or G4. Okay, actually, I really didn't have to think at all about that. It's my not-so secret love....that and ballroom dancing and NSync, which now is not a secret at all.

So, pick a character in any piece of literature you've read and give them another job. Would Scout be a butcher because she's such a ham? Get it...a ham? You know...because she dressed like one in the play at ...nevermind. What about Juliet? An aspiring actress because of her bouts of drama? I could totally see her on General Hospital....not that I watch that junk or anything. As usual, make sure to back up your choice.

Have fun!

If I were to give a character from any piece of literature a job I would recommend that Lenny, from Of Mice and Men to work as a zookeeper. Throughout the novel, the narrator describes Lenny's love for animals. However, he sometimes "loves" them a little too much and kills them. If he worked in a place such as the zoo, or maybe even the petting zoo, the animals would be too large for him to crush in his hands. Also, giving him the same responsibilities each day would allow him to focus and care for the animals. He would also be able to work there because he would be good with children and relate to them very closely. This job would have been perfect for dear old Lenny

First of all, I just want to say that General Hospital is not crap, i watch it religiously (:

But if I were to pick a character from any book, it would be Noah from the Notebook. I feel as if he would be a good carpenter or construction worker because in the book he buys an old house and completely fixes it up and rebuilds it. He was very dedicated to building this house and felt very passionate about it.

If I were to give any character from any piece of literature a job I would give Ponyboy, from The Outsiders a job to work as a movie reviewer for IMDB or another company along the lines of that one. Ponyboy has an intense love for movies. He goes to the movies whenever he can and in a way risks his life. He goes to the movies at times and doesn't ask anyone to go with him. One of these times he is attacked by the Soc's. This is how he risks his life. Ponyboy's love for movies would make his perfect job be a movie reviewer.

Hmm i'm not quite sure. I think I would have to choose Abigail from the crucible. She was a servant but got fired after being caught in an affair but denied it ever happened. She ran the entire town, lied to everyone to get her way, and controlled everyone around her. I would say she could be either a conwoman or a lawyer. Everyone knows that cons are ruthless people who control others around them to get what they want from them and that's what Abby did. And also people always stereotype lawyers as being snakes and manipulative beings who are greedy and that's pretty much how Abby was. So I think Abigail would make a great conwoman or a decent lawyer i suppose.

I think Tyler Durden from "Fight Club" would be able to start a great Bar Soap company. Even though he is really only a figment of the narrator's imagination, it seems like he is extremely knowledgeable in soap making.

I mean, you have to be really smart in order to know how to turn human fat into bars of soap. And Tyler seems like he's quite intelligent himself. He was able to establish a large amount of fight clubs across the country. I think that he could have become immensely successful if he had used his skills as a businessman and started his own line of "Tyler Durden Body Wash Products". But instead he spent his time trying to bring down corporate America. Too bad.

If I was going to give a character from a piece of literature another job, I'd choose Bilbo from The Hobbit. I don't think he ever really had a job, and was just thrust into that treasure hunt. If he had a different job, I think it would be a lawyer. He seems like a really smart person, and also very clever. He tricked Gollum, and basically helped the dwarves, men, and elves win the war against the orcs and those wolves. If I was being tried for murder, I would have no problem with Bilbo as my lawyer.

I would pick Nick Carraway from The Great Gatsby (it was one of my favorite books until the end), and I would give him the job of a reporter/newspaper journalist. Nick always is an observer in the novel rather than an active participant. He sits back and watches as Daisy and Gatsby interact with each other. He watches silently while Tom hits Myrtle. He never interferes, which allows him to get all the information with minimal drama. Nick can also make inferences about people without a personal bias - while he knows the relationship between Daisy and Tom is messed up, as well as her decision to stay with him is wrong, he chooses to not react and instead lets events unfold. I feel that Nick would be a great reporter or journalist because he can focus on the facts and be on the sidelines rather than commanding a spotlight.

If I were to give someone else a different job than they had in their story I would choose Will from The Last Song. In the novel he is a mechanic. I think the only reason this is his occupation just because his Dad own the shop. He would really rather be doing something helpful and generous. He volunteers at the aquarium and I think he would rather this be his full time job. He feels good when he helps the animals and really enjoys it. It would not be like a job to him but more of a fun activity.

I can see Holden becoming some sort of commentator or critic in his future. Throughout the book, he criticizes everything constantly. He calls a transvestite a pervert, he says he hates movies because they're acted out by "phonies," and of course insults his 'friends' for one reason or the other. He complains endlessly and picks on the flaws of everything. I can see him watching a movie and tearing it apart.

Now, he'll probably be a terrible critic. After all, Holden is one of the most hypocritical characters in all of literature and he only sees the negative. What kind of critic is like---Oh wait.

I think Holden could be the next Roger Ebert. Not sure who his Siskel would be. And no, we're not giving Holden a Roeper.

If I was going to give a job to a character from any book I would give Resa from Inkheart the job of a kindergarden teacher. This is because she missed out on her own kid growing up but not only that, she is good with kids and is always watching after them in the camp.

If i could give any character from any piece of literature a job it would be Ron Weasley as a disgruntled little league quidditch coach.Though Ron never had a real job I think that because of his obsession for control and self centeredness he would put immense amount of pressure on his team in order to fulfill his failed dream of being a sucessful quiditch player. This is the job I would pic for Ronald Weasley.

If I were to chose a new occupation for a character in Literature I would chose "Jack" from Fight Club to become a Mixed Martial Arts instructor. Although his techniques are not rooted in any legitimate martial art, he did beat many people to a pulp. Although he is insane in one sense of the word, he could teach people to fight just as viciously as he did at times. Also, he has great endurance and has taken several beatings. He drank almost a pint of his own blood (the point at which a human throws up). If this is not a brütally tough, then I do not know what toughness truly is.

Hmm, No me gusta los 'blogs.'
Anyways, I would choose to give Klaus Baudelaire from The Series of Unfortunate Events a tenure at MIT. He's brilliant and intelligent so a job at MIT would be good for him. He could do whatever he wanted. So yeah, Professor Klaus.

If any character could have one job, Holden Caulfield would be a book reviewer. He would see through the phonies and tell which is quality work. Holden would not take any crap from anyone and he would be completely blunt to whatever he encountered. He would be a book editor because people's most inner feelings come from their writing. Holden would be able to recognize who is actually sincere in their feelings, and who is trying to get attention and fame. Holden is always criticizing people and I think what better way to do that than to criticize their writing.

I would give Scout from To Kill a Mockingbird a job as a journalist because she learns to read before she attends school and she is very curious. If she worked as someone who spreads news and awareness she would meet new people, which she loves doing, while traveling, gaining information and insight into different types of people. Since she is a tomboy, traveling to all around the world chasing news stories would be perfect for her because she would get to have adventures while researching current issues that would help her grow even more with her understanding of human nature.

I would choose Suze from "The Mediator" series by Meg Cabot. She is edgy and sassy. She has a killer sense of fashion. Her money that she earns goes straight towards clothes or shoes. These are no ordinary American Eagle polo shirts or rocket dog shoes. She buys Jimmy Choo clogs (the book is a little old) and other fabulous designer items. That is why I think that Suze would make a perfect personal shopper. She scouts out the sales and knows just what to get for each body type. Oh yes, I happen to love General Hospital, even though whiny Brenda is back, and I DVR it every day.

If I had to give someone a job from a book, it would be Ronnie from The Last Song. Ronnie is really inspired from the sea turtles on her dad's beach, so I would put her in a job that has to do with rescuing animals, because she seems to really enjoy them and want to save them.

If I were to give any character in a book a job I would give a job to wendey from the shinning, which is my favorite book. She is the wife of jack who goes crazy as a hotel caretaker during the winter and tried to murder his whole family. I feel like if she had the job of house keeper or something for the hotel she would not have bothered her husband and he may not have gone crazy.

If there were one job the Holden from Catcher in the Rye would have it would be as a guidance councellor. He has had plenty of problems growing up and he would be able to help just about anyone with their problems. Using his own experiences he will be able to help many. ALEX IANNITELLI

If Momma Joad had a job other than taking care of her family, she’d be a CEO of some big company. Momma Joad is no ordinary lady. She has the strength and determination to build a company and maintain it, no matter what hardships she will face. She’s also very resourceful and knowledgeable with finance.

"If I had to give a character from a piece of literature another job, I would choose Magwitch from the novel, "Great Expectations". In the novel, Magwitch worked in Austrailia as a farmer. He worked extremly hard to earn a great deal of money that he would eventually bestow upon Pip. If Magwitch were to have a different job, i think Magwitch wold be a good philanthropist. Magwitch's reason for going to work in Austrailia was to help out Pip. Magwitch is a very kind person who will go to great lengths to do what it takes to help them. This is the kind of mentality that pilanthropist has. A philanthropist is someone who is willing to help someone or something for a cause and this is the perfect match for Magwitch."

I would obviously pick Odysseus from the Iliad and the Odyssey. He is a clever cunning person whose only flaw is his pride and arrogance. He would change from a Greek warrior to a traveling con man under the alias of a traveling salesman. Since Odysseus tricks the giants and tricks the various monsters he is suited to be a con man. He would trick everyone and scam them out of money and stuff.

I would choose Aliie from The Notebook. She would make a perfect teacher because she likes adventures and new things. The students would deffinately give her something new everyday. Also Noah taught her to love poetry and reading. I think she would enjoy kids a lot.

I'm having the hardest time thinking of a character! I think that Mademoiselle Reisz would be the edgy pianist in a ridiculously cool band or famous composer if she was in a later time period. She would be that first female to break the barriers and become famous for her hard work and not her partying. This is because she defied the rules of the Victorian era by staying single regardless of what the people in society thought of her. This shows that she is very strong willed and ahead of her time. She is so capable of doing great things and making a difference.

Even though I haven't read it in years, I remember Huckleberry Finn being a helluva negotiator and a very shrewed negotiator. I remember him convincing Tom to get into some pretty sketchy situations based on myth alone. He'd make a pretty decent used car salesman. I could see him trying to pawn off an '86 Chevy Celebrity with 156,000 miles, no headliner, and no 2nd gear to someone looking for a first car for 2 grand because "I heard it was the best selling car in '86 for a reason, what do you have to lose?"

Holden Caulfield would make a great talk show radio host on satellite too. He could be the next Howard Stern...or have a professional Twitter account.

If I were to give any character from literature another job, I would make Bill from the diagnosis a massage therapist and acupuncture technition. Due to the fact that his job is highly stressful and causes many negative emotional and physical health effects. His job would not only prevent his disease, but allow him to spread stress relief and relaxiation to other overworked individuals. This calm environment would allow him to escape the hectic business environment in which he is consumed in technology and forced to produce everything at an unhumanly fast rate. This would improve his family life and health, allowing him to enjoy his life, and better understand his health and body's needs.

Well since I just read Beowulf, its kind of on my mind. I wished I could've suggested to Beowulf to be a male model. He's already got the personality of a stuck up model so I hope he's got the looks. He might have to change his name to make it more appealing to the public. He would probably have to do photoshoots that are kind of dangerous so he can gloat about it later; "yeah, yesturday, I had to hang from the side of a 50000 foot cliff and still look this good. It was tough but I made it work...."

If I had to give a character in literature a new job I'd make Ender Wiggins, the military genius in Enders Game into a form of sports coach. His extensive knowledge of formations and acute strategic instincts would allow him to break through enemy ranks and find their weaknesses. He is also a good leader of his men and would know how to inspire his team and keep them going.

If I were to give a character a job I would choose Beowulf. I would make him an olympic weight lifter for the U.S. He would be very good at this becasue he has very big muscle and can destroy any monster that comes in his way. He would win many gold medals for us so i think he would be very popular in the U.S.

If I could... I would make Holden Caufield from 'The Catcher in the Rye' a high school guidance counsellor. Of course, I would make him wait until he grew up and got over himself, but I feel this would be a good job for him. He knows what it is like to feel alone and depressed; to run away from home and generally make bad decisions. If he could learn from his mistakes, I think he could give very good advice to struggling teens.

But then again... Holden Caufield growing up?

Yea... Not possible.

If I had to choose a character from any piece of literature and give him or her a job, I would choose Hermoine Granger from the Harry Potter series. I would give her the job of a teacher at Hogwarts because she is a sweet, kind- hearted, caring person and I can picture her teaching the young witches and wizards how to do the simple spells.

I would absolutely pick the character of Daisy from "The Great Gatsby". I would make her an famous southern belle. I feel her tendency for the dramatic, enjoyment of the high life, and romantic rendezvous are very similar to those of a southern belle. Think Scarlett O'Hara in Gone with the Wind, but blonde and more annoying... and drunk.
Sincerly,
Corey

Montag from Fahrenheit 451 would be a writer. He would write because he was not allowed to read in the book, yet he loved literature. He could also be a critic, analyzing movies and books because he is very observant.

If i were to give a character from a novel a new job it would most definitely be Daisy from The Great Gatsby. I would give her the job of being an actress/star on the hit television show Jersey Shore. In the novel Daisy is always looking for a good time. Also, she always makes sure she looks good, and her clothes are always expensive and flashy. In the same way that the members of the show Jersey Shore are always having a good time and are very much into their appearance with their flashy clothes.

I think that Holden Caulfield from Cather in the Rye would be a teacher. I'm not exactly sure what subject he'd teach but I can see him enjoying being able to work with kids, like 6th and 6th graders. He would especially love having his sister Phoebe in his class. Also, I could see him getting away from the curriculum and just going off in a rant during class discussions on his philosophical views and ideas on life, death, and other topics that are kind of deep for kids. His students would love the fun side of him but they'd see he was a little on the crazy side whenever he got upset about ducks and they had no idea what he was really talking about.
