QOW#2-week of January 13th

Yowza! That last question was kind of cool in the responses that it received. Nicely done! I like to add quirky questions that make you think...but not too hard as I wouldn't want anyone to get hurt.

With that in mind...choose a character from any piece of literature you have read this year and have them author a "how to" book. Title of the overall book and give me about three chapter titles. As always, make sure to support yout choice.

Gregor from "The Metamorphasis" would title his book "How to freak out your family"

the first chapter will be "Lock your doors" He will describe how to lock yourself in your room and speak in a weird language, so no one understands what you mean.

the second chapter will be "Don't bathe" gregor will discuss how to not shower, brush your teeth, or go to the bathroom.

the third chapter will be "Creep on guests"
Gregor will discuss how to leave your bedroom very sneakily, so no one hears you while guests are over. Then he will tell you how to make yourself known to everyone.

Gregor completely freaked out his family in "The Metamorphasis" and he can easily write a book to help others do the same thing.

chapter 4: Have no luck at any camp.

oookay, this is a difficult one.
hmmm, let's see....
"How To Be Free" would be Nora's "How To" book for A Doll's House.
chapter 1: Face the Music (come to realize that maybe your life isn't what you really wanted)
Chapter 2: Ditch the Dude (describes how to leave the jerk that claims he loves a woman)
Chapter 3: Find Your Reason (describes how to focus on yourself and discover what it is that you want to accomplish)
This can be what Nora contributes to society after realizing that she needs a change in her life.

Jane Eyre's book would be "How to Be Happy"

1. Follow Your Heart (Jane never loses sight of the values she believes in and she relies on herself alone to help her survive.)

2. Fall in Love (Jane finds happiness by falling in love with Mr. Rochester and devoting her life to him, even though she was criticized by others.)

3. Forgive and Forget (Jane forgives her aunt for the horrible treatment she received because she doesn't see the point in harboring that bitterness. She is much happier when she lets go of the hard feelings.)

Okay well, i decided to use Atticus Finch from To Kill a Mocking Bird. His "how to" book would be titled "How to Keep Your Cool".It would discuss his life as a lawyer and how he handles certain situations.

Chapter 1.- Spit style (when he gets spat on)

Chapter 2.- Defending your kind (Tom Robinson's case and his innocence)

Chapter 3.- Your daughter's life is in danger (when scout turns the men away at the court house and they just left)

Chapter 4.- Your children ignore your request (this would be when they keep trying to see Boo Radley)

The book would be a sum of his life and his experiences in any type of situation allowing other people to be able to control themselves if these situations should arrive.

Estella from "Great Expectations" would title her "how to" book, "How to Play Hard to Get".

The first chapter would be called "Mean is the new nice". It would explain how to be mean to the boys that like you, in order to keep them more interested.

Chapter two would be "find a jerk to make your lovers jealous." Estella would tell you how to find a man that does not mean a thing to you, in order to make your real love jealous. Sometimes pain is pleasure.

Chapter three would be "Never give in to love, ever." Estella will tell how to be as cold as ice on the outside, no matter what you could be feeling on the inside. Also the longer you play hard to get, the more in love the man will fall in love with you especially in Pip's case.

Estella never gave in to Pip's love for her, she would easily be able to tell someone how to do the same.

i think ralph from the lord of the flies would write "How to Survive in the Wilderness".

The first chapter would be entitled "Make Friends with the Nerdy Boy -- he'll be smart enough to not get you killed". Chapter two would be "Establishing a form of order -- preferably with a seashell". The third chapter will be "How to Run as Fast as Possible when Everyone Else has Gone Mad".

i'm sensing a new york times' best seller here, folks.
